Covid-19 and the 2020-21 Season

Covid-19 and the 2020-21 Season

Due to Covid-19, last spring saw the cancellation of several concerts planned by the Tar River Orchestra & Chorus. We spent the summer hopeful that concerts could resume as normal this fall but as the months went by, it became apparent that it would still not be safe for musicians or audiences to participate in live performances. As a result, we have no performances planned this fall. We hope that the spring semester will see improved health conditions and live music can once again be heard in all of our venues throughout the city.

Until then, we are preparing and recording some online content by musicians in our various ensembles that we can safely share with you on our website and social media outlets. Even though live music is not possible, we are still seeking to fulfill our mission of providing excellent musical performances for our community. Our goal will be to release one online performance per week starting in October. Please check back in October to listen to these wonderful performances. Also, please consider supporting our organization financially this season so that we can remain strong and ready to return to live concerts as soon as it is safe to do so. We are so thankful for our many individual and business supporters. We hope you will stay healthy until we can be together again.

Musically yours,

Jennifer Harris, General Manager
