Children’s Chorus Auditions

The Tar River Children’s Chorus will hold  OPEN AUDITIONS for boys and girls with treble voices in grades 4-12 on Saturday, July 13th, from 10-noon and 2-4 pm, at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Rocky Mount.

Prospective choristers should prepare a song (no longer than 1 minute) to sing a cappella.

Be familiar with “Silent Night” to test melody against harmony. Other testing will be on melodic memory, rhythmic memory, treble range, music theory and reading music .

Cantare (grades 4-6), mainly must have a sufficient range and match pitches well.

Concert Chorus (grades 7-12) requires singers who have good range and some experience with reading music chorally or instrumentally.

We are open to all talented singers and those who may have just begun to sing. We are here to give our area children a quality chorus to develop their voices as they grow and gain musical and performance skills.
