The Tar River Swing Band under the direction of Dr. Jonathan Wacker will present “Swinging Through the Holidays” at the Boykin Center in Wilson, North Carolina on Tuesday, December 8 at 8:00pm. The venue is located at 108 Nash Street NE in downtown Wilson. On Thursday, December 17 at 7:30pm, the group will perform the same show at Nash Community College’s Brown Auditorium in Rocky Mount.
“Come hear the best of Glen Miller, Diane Krall, Frank Sinatra, Count Basie and more as we celebrate the holiday season,” Wacker said. “You’ve never heard “Oh Holy Night”, “Baby It’s Cold Outside” or “Santa Baby” played like this before!” He says the concert will include holiday favorites, arranged for Big Band and guarantees a toe tapping show that will surely get the audience into the swinging, get up and dance holiday spirit. In addition to serving as the band’s conductor, Wacker is Director of Percussion at the East Carolina University School of Music.
The Tar River Swing Band has been performing big band jazz and dance music in concerts and for private functions around Eastern North Carolina since 1999.
