December 1, “Messiah Sing A Long”, Tar River Chorus and Orchestra, 6 PM at First United Methodist Church, Rocky Mount

Start your holiday on the right note with a community sing a long of the Christmas portion of Handel’s “Messiah” led by the Tar River Chorus. Admission is free but bring a new unwrapped toy to benefit Peacemaker’s annual toy drive.


December 6, “A Ceremony of Carols”, Tar River Children’s Chorus & Youth Strings Concert, 7:30 PM at First Baptist Church, Rocky Mount

Get in the Christmas Spirit as the Tar River Children’s Concert Chorus performs with harp the complete “Ceremony of Carols” by Benjamin Britten. Youth Strings and children’s voices will continue to delight you with Christmas favorites including “Twas the Night Before Christmas” by the Cantare. By request from last year, TRCC will again join the Youth Strings in the Transiberian Orchestra’s “Christmas Canon”. Our young people hope to bring you joy to start this Christmas season!


December 12, “Swingin’ Round the Christmas Tree”, Tar River Swing Band, 7:30 PM at Dunn Center

Join the Tar River Swing Band as we celebrate Christmas with popular holiday tunes in a Swingin’ style as well as some traditional swing tunes you know and love! Come at 6:30 PM for a reception of heavy appetizers, tea, beer, and wine (add-on ticket required).


March 20, “Experience Austria: Choral Selections of Haydn & Schubert”, Tar River Chorus, 7:30 PM at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church

Classical music fans will enjoy a concert from two of Austria’s finest composers. Choral works from Joseph Haydn’s “The Creation” and Franz Schubert’s “Mass in G” will be performed by the chorus, guest soloists and a chamber orchestra. At intermission, everyone is invited to sample Austrian strudel as we experience Austria together.


April 5, “Hello Spring”, Tar River Orchestra, 3 PM at Dunn Center

Join us for our annual family concert as the orchestra presents, “Hello Spring”. Family friendly selections including “Where’s Red Robin”, with guest narrator, and classics like Vivaldi’s “Spring” will entertain and educate both young and old alike. Fabulous and free pre-concert activities starting at 1:30 PM will be available for children.


April 30, “Toe-tappin’ & Relaxin’”, Tar River Swing Band, 7:30 PM at the Dunn Center

Featuring vocal hits that you can sing along with, this concert will showcase familiar big band swing as well as newer jazz that is guaranteed to give you an evening of musical enjoyment. Bring a friend and come relax as you listen to the toe-tapping melodies of the Tar River Swing Band.
