November 2, “A New York State of Mind”, Tar River Chorus, 7:30 PM at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church

As the days get shorter and shorter, and right before we turn back the clocks and lose another hour, join the Tar River Chorus for a little autumn pick-me-up (in Little Italy, they’d call it tiramisu!). Keep those winter blues at bay with a diverse selection of music from Broadway, accompanied by piano, percussion and other guest instrumentalists.

November 25, “Messiah Sing A Long”, Tar River Chorus and Orchestra, 4 PM at First United Methodist Church, Rocky Mount

Start your holiday on the right note with a community sing a long of the Christmas portion of Handel’s “Messiah” led by the Tar River Chorus. Admission is free but bring a new unwrapped toy to benefit Peacemaker’s annual toy drive.

December 7, “The Light of Christmas”, Tar River Children’s Chorus and Youth Strings Concert, 7:30 PM at First Baptist Church, Rocky Mount

Our award-winning Tar River Children’s Chorus and Youth Strings will again usher us into a wonderful Christmas season. The whole family from young to old will enjoy favorite popular Christmas songs and beautiful settings of traditional carols. Come join us for a lovely evening!

December 18, “A Swingin’ Christmas”, Tar River Swing Band, 7:30 PM at Dunn Center

Join the Tar River Swing Band as we celebrate Christmas with popular holiday tunes in a Swingin’ style as well as some traditional swing tunes you know and love!

March 9, “Peter and the Wolf”, Tar River Orchestra, 3 PM at Dunn Center

The whole family will be delighted as the orchestra presents the classic story of Peter and the Wolf set to the enchanting music of Sergei Prokofiev in our annual family concert. Come early for pre-concert activities and an instrument petting zoo!

April 5, “Vivaldi and Handel by Candlelight”, Tar River Chorus, 7:30 PM at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church

Chamber orchestra and the voices of the Tar River Chorus transport the audience to a different era, filling the gorgeous, candlelit sanctuary of St. Andrew’s Episcopal with the timeless Vivaldi Gloria and selections from Handel’s Coronation Anthems. Whether you come seeking entertainment, spiritual enlightenment (or both), this concert presents a beautiful opportunity.

May 9, “Swing N Strings”, Tar River Swing Band, Children’s Chorus, and Orchestra Strings, 7:30 PM at the Dunn Center

What do you get when you combine the swing band with orchestra strings? Magic! Join us for an evening of swing tunes and beloved hits from the great American Songbook with an extra touch of PIZAZZ from our orchestra strings and children’s chorus.

In addition to these eight season events, tickets will be sold separately for the annual Tar River League Fund-raiser on February 15. Mark your calendars now and plan to attend!
